In the last decade, large format printing (also known as wide format printing) has made leaps and bounds, in part because of technological improvements in flatbed printing.

Alexander's flatbed printerBefore the advent of the flatbed printer, most of the printers being used to produce large format printed products were roll fed devices that only printed directly to flexible substrates. If a customer wanted to print on a large rigid surface, the printing company would likely have printed the graphic on a paper or canvas substrate and then mounted it onto a rigid surface for final use. Processes like this took extra time, labor and supplies, making large format printing an expensive practice. Thankfully, flatbed printers have simplified and expanded the world of large format printing.

At Alexander’s we use our Fuji flatbed printer to print on those less flexible surfaces. This printer is the star of our wide format department, because it does so much for us. In fact, we can now print on almost anything including small items like golf balls (watch the video) and larger items like wood doors. This printer offers extended color and white ink printing so you can get high resolution images and vibrant colors printed on permanent or disposable surfaces.

So why does this matter to our customers and prospects? Alexander’s print technology allows us to say yes to just about any project. Do you need floor to ceiling banners, or a large trade show display? We can help. Maybe you want to create custom gift boxes for your company, printing directly on the box?

Whatever your “unusual” project may be, we’re here to help. And our state-of-the-art printing equipment, especially the flatbed printer, allow us to do so.
