It’s hard to believe that Alexander’s started as a small copy shop way back in 1979, and that this year marks our 35th year of business. Of course, we’re thrilled that we’ve come so far and that we still have the greatest customers around.
Yesterday, our team sat down to discuss some of our milestones. With so many stories surrounding the business, we thought we’d share a short timeline of events with you. It’s incredible to see how how technology has really impacted the print industry, helping us develop into the full-scale commercial printing and digital marketing services provider we are today — a long way from our walk-in copy shop roots.
1979
Alexander’s opens in Provo with 2 part-time employees, advertising “copies while you wait.”
1983
Alexander’s opens a Salt Lake location on 400 South.
1984
Alexander’s opens an Orem location on State Street and another Provo location south of BYU Campus.
1987
Alexander’s launches it’s Stars and Stripes hot air balloon at the Freedom Balloon Fest, starting an annual Alexander’s tradition.
1993
Alexander’s introduces black and white digital printing with it’s Xerox DocuTech digital printer.
1996
Alexander’s installs it’s first HP Indigo digital color press.
1998
Alexander’s moves to it’s new administrative and production facility in Lindon, Utah.
2000
Alexander’s introduces Web-to-Print services with Divvy by Alexander’s.
2001
Alexander’s printed the tickets for the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics.
2005
Alexander’s opens its wide format print department.
2011
Alexander’s launches Divvy, an online product management system for the franchise industry.
2012
Alexander’s begins offering digital and online marketing services.
2014
Alexander’s celebrates 35 years of business.
