Have you ever left an event thinking the centerpieces were lame? We want to talk to you!

Here’s a look at what Alexander’s just pulled off for the Utah Technology Council’s 16th Annual Hall of Fame Celebration.

We rubbed shoulders with representatives from companies like Adobe, Domo, LANDesk, KPMG and many others that are making a difference in Utah. Alexander’s has been a part of the program for years as the primary printing source for the event.

The hall of fame ceremony honors individuals who have contributed to information technology through innovation and leadership tied to the great state of Utah.

This year’s “printing event” highlight was a beautifully lit printable centerpiece for each of the tables, showing off the Salt Lake City Skyline with everything from the State Capitol building to the LDS Temple.

It was a multi-format design effort that really set the tone for the level of creativity from those attending and being honored for Utah’s success in business.

Wait… So that’s a printable centerpiece?

Yes, now let me give you the low down on how we made it.

The first design concept was to showcase Salt Lake City. You can see here, the outline of the city was beautifully cut with a laser to get every little notch mark to cast a silhouette-like look with a colored backdrop.

Then, we printed the text onto a polycarbonate that allows light to go through, each one casting a different color. The last step was placing the larger piece (skyline) around the smaller see-through piece.

Then all you need is a light source and you have a pretty speculator eye catcher for your event. No more floating candles in water!
