At the beginning of every new year we begin to plan our company’s biggest event: The Alexander’s Customer Celebration. The entire event only lasts about 2 hours but the planning — as many of you will know — begins months before. As a part of this blog series, we want to take you behind the scenes. Our Customer Celebration is one of the best in Utah Valley and we want to show you why! Remember to check back later this week for how we built the decorations and how to run a social media competition. 

Customer Celebration Planning:

Since we already knew the purpose of our event we began our planning with the concept – California beach party. After some time had passed brainstorming the decorations and the various pieces that we would need to create, we understood very quickly that this year’s invitation needed to be something that would grab our customer’s attention.

Save-the-Dates:

We decided to send these Save-the-Dates out about a month in advance to serve as an initial reminder to all of our returning customers. They are built like a typical postcard so the printing and mailing costs were very low. We added a UV coating for protection in the mail and sent them off. Sending these Save-the-Dates in advance also allowed us to double check the validity of the addresses we had on file.

Creative Invitations:

Our invitations this year went through quite a process before the final product was decided. We knew we wanted to send something beach themed so naturally a surfboard was on the top of our list. For a time, our team planned to send a wooden surfboard with all the event information printed directly on the wood. After we brainstormed further, we realized there was a less expensive solution that would give us an equally polished look. We decided to print the surfboards on PVC and individually cut them out using our I-Cut machine. The surfboard was placed inside of a custom designed envelope we printed, coated with a velvet laminate and die-cut.

Our digital printers are great for variable data and customized mailers. We even have an envelope printer if your looking for something a little more mainstream to send in the mail.

SWAG and other Giveaways:

Every year, we try and give our clients something to remember us by. This year we gave them:

Journals

Our journals were printed on 60 lb. white print. Each journal was filled with lined pages to write notes on but on the last page, customers found a two-year calendar and promotional message from us. We used our perfect binder to give the pages a nice seal and treated the cover with a velvet laminate. We then rounded the sides before placing them out on the display table.

Docupads

These docupads (also known as mousepads) are great for any office desk. Both the docupads and the journals were printed on our HP Indigo Full Color Digital Press. We added a calendar to the bottom for easy-access scheduling and padded two sides.

Rulers

If you are the person in the office responsible for printing marketing materials or direct mail campaigns, chances are you have one or two rulers in your desk. We hope that our customers enjoy these rulers printed on a 20 mil. synthetic material.

T-Shirts

This year we used our Anajet Digital Direct-to-Garment Printer to digitally print a variety of styles. Some of the shirts we gave away were also silk screen printed. I think it’s safe to say our customers liked the shirts this year based on how quickly we ran out of them. Thirty MINUTES!

Candy Boxes

No matter the age, these customized candy boxes seem to make everyone happy. We designed ours with a beach scene on one side (see picture) and vintage car on the other. They were printed on our HP Indigo Full Color Digital Press using 110 lb. matte cover. Once they were UV coated (to give it that nice finish) we die cut them and had our fulfillment team assemble the box. These candy boxes could be re-sized and used for other promotional purposes.
