The 2013 Utah Golf Marathon will be held June 19 at The Links at Sleepy Ridge golf course in Orem, Utah. Presented by Utah Valley printer, Alexander’s, the 12-hour, 54-hole golf tournament is open to 20 foursomes. Companies interested in supporting the UVU Wolverines or golfers up to the challenge of 54 holes in a day are invited to register. This year’s event will raise funds for the Utah Valley University men’s basketball team scholarship fund.
Foursomes are $1,250 and companies can also sponsor holes for $1,000. Complete sponsorship, event details and registration is available online at UtahGolfMarathon.com.
The Utah Valley University men’s basketball team finished a strong season this year, and will be joining the Western Athletic Conference during the 2013-2014 school year. Unfortunately, university athletic scholarships don’t carry through the summer semester, which leaves many student athletes with insufficient funds to continue schooling during the off-season. Proceeds from the Utah Golf Marathon aim to help UVU men’s basketball players pursue their education year-round.
“Education is important,” said Alexander’s Founder and CEO, Jeff Alexander. “We want to help our local university athletes graduate. We’re stepping up to help raise awareness and funds for the UVU Wolverines to help these young athletes achieve their educational goals.”
Funds raised will help the players stay in school year-round and find a better balance between athletic training and studying, leading to success both on and off the basketball court.

The Utah Golf Marathon will take place on June 19, 2013 at The Links at Sleepy Ridge golf course. Alexander’s hopes the event will raise at least $20,000 for the Utah Valley University men’s basketball team scholarship fund. The event begins with check-in and a continental breakfast at 6:30 a.m. and ends at 7 p.m. followed by an evening dinner, awards ceremony and auction.
Snacks and drinks are available to participants throughout the day. Event contests include a four- and two-person scramble, and awards for the best 18-hole individual round.
