This week we filled a large order for Ken Garff’s Keys to Success program, an incentive –based program that encourages Utah high school students to perform better in school. The Keys to Success program project was not only an exciting project for our production team to work on (thousands and thousands of key cards to create!), but it’s a project that has real impact around the state of Utah.
At Alexander’s we strongly support education. This year we’ve helped sponsor the Utah Valley Spelling Bee, raised money for the Utah Valley University Men’s Basketball team scholarship fund and partnered with Ken Garff’s Road to Success program, helping elementary school children improve reading skills. So helping with the Keys to Success program was a projected we were excited about.
The program, run by Ken Garff Automotive Group and the Utah Governor’s Office, allows students to qualify for a ‘key card,’ making them eligible for various awards from sponsors around Utah. Each high school administrative team carries out the program in their school, rewarding students for improvement or achievement in academics, class attendance, service, citizenship and more. Once the student receives a key card, they can go online, select from a variety of prizes, type in the code on their card and their prize is mailed to them.
At the end of the year students who reach certain academic criteria are eligible to become a finalist, and have a chance to win a car. The Keys to Success program also awards college scholarship money to outstanding seniors.
Yesterday, I walked through the print shop to see our team boxing up thousands of key cards to be distributed to schools around Utah. Because of digital print and variable data technology, we were able to print a unique code on each card, allowing for better tracking of prizes and student participation. Our team then cut, laminated and boxed every card to be sent out to schools around the state of Utah, where each school is awarded a certain number of key cards to hand out to students. Additionally, our team printed and cut posters and contract cards to be packed and distributed.
We hope that Utah high school students will make the 2013-2014 school year a successful one by striving to perform better in school, and qualifying for key cards and scholarships through the Keys to Success program.
