In nature, when two completely different organisms join forces to ensure their survival it is known as symbiosis. These mutually beneficial relationships can produce some odd pairs, such as hippos befriending birds, or whales protecting tiny fish.
At Alexander’s you may notice and odd pair: print and digital media. It would seem that print products and digital content could not be more different from one another; but they come together in ways that benefit our business, and most of all, our customers.
Digital renderings expedite the printing process
Many years ago, printing a proof for a customer took days. After a lengthy design meeting with a salesman, our printing department would anxiously wait as the design slowly revealed itself on the sluggish printers of that time. To further delay the process, the proof could arrive to the client flawed, or the client could have changed their mind. It was a desperate time for the print industry.
Today, what used to take days can be accomplished in mere hours thanks to digital renderings. Clients, salesman and designers work together to create an accurate representation of the printed proof. Multiple designs can be rendered, and edits can be made on-site. Once the client is happy, our printing department can have a proof ready before lunch.
This improved process saves both time and money, but it wouldn’t be possible without innovations in print technology.
Printers are better than ever
A digital design is only as good as its printed counterpart, and thanks to our Indigo and flatbed printers, we can produce a high definition replica of a digital rendering. No matter the quantity, the quality will be consistent day in and day out.
Along with improved imaging technology, printers today are built for speed. If a client is in a bind; they have a trade show that day and they need a banner, we can have it to them with time to spare. If a client ever needs a duplicate of a past project, we can simply pull the digital file from our data base and print them a product as perfect as the original.
Today, the only limitations are our imaginations, thanks to the union of print and digital technology.
