Anatomy of the project
Summary of things created
- Business Cards
- Customized One-Off Books
- Ordering Portal
- Database Driven Web-to-Print
Client description
Ancestry.com is the largest online resource for family history. With close to 1.7 million subscribers, it has been the leader in family history for more than 20 years.
Before Ancestry.com first engaged Alexander’s in 2006, it only offered a non-personalized history book based loosely on a customer’s last name. Turnaround times were taking too long due to a production process riddled with delays and mistakes.
Ancestry.com turned to Alexander’s to help expand its product portfolio and personalize its offerings while eliminating production errors and reducing delivery time.
Creative solution
The solution was an integrated, database-driven, Web-to-print platform. This platform streamlined Ancestry.com’s user interface, automated its ordering process, personalized its products and optimized its pricing structure.
Within weeks of implementing the system, Ancestry.com was on a more organized, personalized and lucrative trajectory that fueled the company’s growth in becoming the revered industry leader it is today.
Results
- A host of new personalized products, including calendars, family tree posters, photo books and collage posters
- Complete automation of ordering and fulfillment activities
- 90% order fulfillment rate within 3 days
- 99% order fulfillment rate within 5 days
Ancestry.com has worked with Alexander’s for many years. They have always been an excellent service provider by meeting and often exceeding our expectations in the areas of cost, quality and delivery. The account management and business development teams have been wonderful to work with as we have established new products and business models. Working with Alexander’s has been far more valuable than a simple supplier relationship.
