Imagine for a moment if the Grinch stole Christmas. This time, however, he planned it a little better. He didn’t wait for the holiday season or even for Black Friday to start his plot. November came and he was already following through with his master scheme to steal Christmas! What could it be? Can you guess the best way to stop the holidays? You might be surprised…

Christmas without printers

Store fronts, Christmas cards, family newsletters, packaging, price tags and newspaper ads are only a few of the printed materials that every Christmas must absolutely have. Think about it! Even a nativity has to have flyers to send out for people to know when to attend. So, the Grinch, with his cunning eyes and quick feet, went around Whoville snatching up every possible print source around. That way, he figured, all the Whos wouldn’t know what to do for the whole holiday season. What prices were the toys? How could they put an address onto all the millions of boxes being sent out from the post office? The need for print was as big in Whoville as it is right where you are.

Digital doesn’t cut it

You might be thinking, “We’ve got email, we’ve got cellphones and plenty of technology, the world won’t skip a beat!” Sorry to disappoint you, but how easily would you miss an emailed Christmas card? What about sending a package? Are the postal workers going to write the address on every parcel until their fingers are numb? If you’re thinking about putting iPads everywhere to label things, you’re crazy. There is a dire need for print all around us! The idea that print is dead is a weak one. There is no way we would want to be a part of a world without a way to print what we create.

The Grinch stole Christmas, but he gave it back

Even the Grinch realized that he couldn’t enjoy life to the fullest without print. He had to hand write all the jury duties and eviction notice letters he used to fabricate. There was barely any more garbage coming up to Mount Crumpet, nothing was being made, so nothing was being thrown away. He wasn’t having fun and neither was anyone else. So, 3 heart sizes later, he promptly returned all the printers to everyone in Whoville. What a relief it was!
