At Alexander’s, we love providing creative print solutions for our clients, and as seen with our Customer Celebration, we also love providing them with a great lunch and free swag so that we can say thank you for your business.

Each year, included in the free swag is a do-it-yourself candy box. We lay out a dozen glass jars filled with different types of candy so that each client can fill their box with all of their favorites. Last year, our beach scene candy box was quite popular. So this year we wanted the same style, but with our Cinco de Mayo theme in mind. And what better type of box to put candy in than a pinata?

Some projects take several prototypes to learn what designs will work most effectively while being beautiful and still meeting the deadline. This project, however, wasn’t one of them, and went through only 2 prototypes. Originally designed to have the head as a separate piece, we realized we could cut back on time and construction costs if we designed the box as one piece, and then cut them on our new laser cutter. Now the only assembly required was a bit of glue, and some folding.

Last year, we had a couple of problems with candy boxes bursting open at the bottom. This year, to avoid that fiasco, we added an insert.

After all the candy was eaten, these tiny luchadores could be pulled out of the box and assembled into mini standees as a lingering reminder of our gratitude to our customers.
